WP 1Project management
This WP will ensure a high quality level of the project’s results via the continuous monitoring of the implementation and completion of the project tasks, activities, milestones and deliverables, safeguarding their proper and timely development according to the Description of Work (DoW) and the project’s work-plan, while ensuring the successful collaboration among the partners. This work package comprises activities related to the management of this project. The objectives are to
establish tasks that provide focus and direction to achieve the goals of this project;
ensure continuous, proactive communication with the European Commission;
establish efficient means of communication and document exchange between partners;
ensure transparency in reporting by establishing appropriate report structures and procedures;
conduct quality assurance activities and perform risk analysis tasks;
coordinate the organisation of project meetings and other possible participatory events where the project could be presented;
ensure project objectives are realised within set time and budget.
WP 2 Requirements Elicitation & Specification
This work package comprises activities related to the elicitation of requirements and the definition of specifications for the TRUSTS Platform. The objectives are to:
analyse the EU and worldwide challenges and trends and define the requirements for the provision of a multi, concurrent and cross-domain, secure and scalable end-to-end (E2E) data marketplace service.
define detailed industry-specific functional specifications appropriate for a data marketplace linked to specific target KPIs considering and bridging the vertical user point of view (PoV) with the analytics/solution provider PoV and the data marketplace platform provider PoV.
produce a set of KPIs and methodologies to enable (a) the technological and business validation of the E2E data marketplace service and associated control and management within and across verticals; (b) the definition of the test reports format, parameters, test points, and benchmarking of the results for a unified and reliable outcome.
WP3: TRUSTS Platform implementation
This work package implements the requirements and specifications as defined in WP2. To achieve this, it is composed of supportive, innovative and integrative tasks:
Provision of infrastructure and operations tools and methods: Establishes the technical foundations to deploy and operate the TRUSTS platform.
Smart Contracts: Ensures the technical implementation of a smart contract feature in compliance with according regulations.
Interoperability solutions: Provides implementations of concepts to achieve data exchange across various data market platforms and with the EOSC.
Governance & Metadata: Defines semantic descriptions and data models to support data interoperability, quality, lineage and data governance.
Integration: Compiles the results into a deployable, unified TRUSTS platform solution
Brokering services: Develops intelligent recommendation algorithms that incorporate data analysis results (with respect to, e.g., platform interactions, or service description) in order to find and suggest potential collaboration opportunities between parties.
WP4: Privacy preserving technologies
The objective of this WP is to investigate, design and improve cryptographically secure protocols that enable data analysis of privacy-sensitive data. Consequently we will focus on practical aspects of cryptographic building blocks such as, but not limited to, secure multiparty computation and homomorphic encryption.
WP5: Demonstration of the TRUSTS Platform in 3 business-oriented Use Cases
This WP is focused on demonstrating and validating the TRUSTS Platform by: (1) Setting up the test environment and performing the relevant planning and pilot operational management for trials in three pilots; (2) Conducting advanced field trials within the following sectors: Financial Institutions, Telecom Operators, Corporate data providers, etc.; (3) Using the test results and data to deliver impact analysis and impact assessment reports to systematically address the pilots’ stakeholder perspectives.
WP6: Legal & Ethical Framework
The goal of this WP is to identify relevant overarching legal rules and ethical principles, and provide guidance for their implementation in the course of the project’s development. To that end, this WP will conduct research on the legal and ethical framework that is applicable on the one hand to conducting the research activities of the project and on the other hand to the end use of the developed technology. The result of this WP will be a set of requirements, which will enable the continuous monitoring of the work progresses, the final evaluation of compliance of the technological solution developed and recommendations for policy makers and stakeholders in the field. The main objectives of WP6 are to:
provide guidance to partners in order for the use cases to be carried out in compliance with the principles of research ethics.
analyse the European laws and regulations relevant to the platform to be developed and use cases, define a set of legal and ethical requirements and identify potential legal and ethical obstacles.
provide guidance to partners for the implementation of the requirements and towards compliance of the platform with the applicable regulatory frameworks, assess and validate the final outcome and generate recommendations based on best practices and potential identified gaps.
The results of this WP will provide input to activities in WP3, WP4 and WP5, where the platform will be designed, tested and validated.
WP7: Business Model, Exploitation & Innovation Impact Assurance
The objectives of this WP are to develop a feasible business model to sustain the results of the project, mobilize an ecosystem, and conduct concrete actions for commercializing the data market platform. Thus the WP will conduct market research on what business models for data markets exist around the world. The main focus will be on business models combining scientific and non-scientific founders since TRUSTS has the same mixed private and public owned structure. The main deliverables during the project will be on the ecosystem and its needs regarding the innovation aspects and intellectual property and data management. The WP will establish pre-conditions for successful business models and best practises.
WP8: Dissemination and Communication
This work package comprises dissemination, communication, and community building tasks, by which it has touch points with all the other work packages. Its objectives are:
to ensure efficient communication within and outside the project (if not in scope of WP1)
to conceive and regularly update the Plan for the Exploitation and Dissemination of Results (PEDR)
to involve stakeholders in the project from the beginning and exploit existing data communities
to conceive, create, and publish engaging online content in order to inform stakeholders and a wider public on the national, European and international levels about the project goals and results
to ensure open access to research results, where applicable (except when trade secrets, patents, privacy/security obligations, and similar are concerned)
to secure access to and preservation of research results beyond the project duration
to advise partners about open access, open source, and open science and the corresponding Horizon 2020 requirements
to document dissemination activities of all partners
to conceive and establish a training and capacity building programme (D8.6 and D8.7)
to establish and collaborate with an external and independent Stakeholder Advisory Board (with WP1)
