SUMMARY:TRUSTS Event: The federation of Data Markets and the Importance of Data Sharing in the EU
DESCRIPTION:The importance of sharing data in the EU is a major challenge we are facing right now. A few initiatives are focused on data markets and their federation – one of them is TRUSTS.\n\n“What business models are out there\, and how to federate them?” “How do emerging technologies enable trustworthy data sharing?”\, “How does data valorisation work according to sound legal and ethical principles?” – these and more are topics which we will discuss on March 1st.\n\nWithin our upcoming event we want to discuss with you which aspects are relevant\, what the status quo is and how TRUSTS can contribute to the federation of a data market when it comes to data sharing following EU standards.\n\n\n1 March\, 1 pm – 3 pm\, CET\, Online\nRegistration via Go To Webinar\n\n\nJoin Alexandra Garatzogianni (Leibniz University Hannover)\, Ioannis Markopoulos (NOVA)\, Gianna Avgousti (eBOS Technologies)\, Lukas Helminger (Know-Center)\, Lorenzo Gugliotta (KU Leuven) and Mark de Reuver (TU Delft) and discuss business\, legal and ethical aspects of federated data markets with them.\n\n\n…\n\nBe part of the knowledge exchange!\n…\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:WSIS Forum 2022
DESCRIPTION:World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2022\nICTs for Well-Being\, Inclusion and Resilience: WSIS Cooperation for Accelerating Progress on the SDGs\nThe WSIS Forum is the world’s largest annual gathering of the “ICT for development” community\, hosted by the ITU and co-organized by International Telecommunication Union\, UNESCO\, UNCTAD\, UNDP with the engagement of more than 30 UN organizations. It provides a platform to coordinate the implementation of multi-stakeholder activities\, the exchange of information\, the creation of knowledge\, and the sharing of best practices in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). The WSIS Forum 2022 is ongoing from 15 March onwards in a virtual format with the final week that will be held on 30 May – 3 June 2022 in Geneva\, Switzerland. \nThe World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2022 represents the world’s largest annual gathering of the ‘ICT for development’ community and is scheduled to be held starting on 15 March with the final week that will be held on 30 May – 3 June 2022. The WSIS Forum\, co-organized by ITU\, UNESCO\, UNDP and UNCTAD\, in close collaboration with all WSIS Action Line Facilitators/Co-Facilitators\, has proven to be an efficient mechanism for coordination of multi- stakeholder implementation activities\, information exchange\, creation of knowledge\, sharing of best practices and continues to provide assistance in developing multi-stakeholder and public/private partnerships to advance development goals. This Forum will provide structured opportunities to network\, learn and participate in multi-stakeholder discussions and consultations on WSIS implementation. The Agenda and Programme of the Forum will be built on the basis of the submissions received during the Open Consultation Process. \nFurthermore\, the 2022 WSIS Forum will provide an opportunity to serve as a platform to track the achievements of WSIS Action Lines in collaboration with the UN Agencies involved and provide information and analyses of the implementation of WSIS Action Lines since 2005. \nhttps://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/forum/2022/More Information \n

SUMMARY:LAILEC Conference
DESCRIPTION:Life-cycle regulation of Data and AI\, Tackling dynamicity and responsibility in complex ecosystems\nIn this year’s edition of the LAILEC Conference\, co-located with the EUH4D Data Forum and the SAS Project Event\, we focus on Data and AI\, together critical enablers for our society to solve complex problems and for our European data economy to thrive. Both data and AI have specific lifecycles\, where dynamicity and evolving features challenge legal and ethical frameworks. \nThe conference aims to discuss the objectives of the European Data Strategy and AI Strategy\, and will explore further the regulatory and governance dimensions of a.o. the concepts of data spaces and trustworthy AI. \nIn the Data Track we offer dedicated panels on the guiding principles and building blocks for the digital economy and zoom in on the importance of data control in different scenarios\, the need for trusted data value chains with suitable allocation of responsibilities and the impact of the fairness principle in data access\, sharing and allocation of data value. \nIn connection\, in the AI Track\, our speakers will engage on the concept of trustworthiness of AI\, its relationship with fundamental rights and dynamic safety and security risks and will discuss the impact of liability issues\, that although challenged by the self-learning capacities of AI and the complex ecosystems\, have an important capacity to significantly increase the levels of trust in AI. \nThe LAILEC conference will source the views of our expert speakers on towards the future avenues for the regulation of Data and AI and their specific lifecycles\, building on the European Commission’s preference\, as expressed in the Data Strategy\, for an “agile approach to governance” that favors “experimentation […]\, iteration\, and differentiation” and the risk-based approach to the regulation of innovation\, already visible in the GDPR and the proposed AI Act. LAILEC will also create room for exchange on the pending legislative initiatives\, such as the AI Act proposal and the expected Data Act proposal. \nLAILEC aims to engage on these topics with a broad community of stakeholders (researchers of different disciplines\, industry\, designers of data spaces\, providers of building blocks -technical and non-technical-\, policymakers\, regulators\, civil society\,..). The objectives of fair\, compliant\, trustworthy data use and AI (and related technology) applications can only be achieved by interdisciplinary efforts and the involvement of a broad range of stakeholders. Join the debate in Leuven on the 29th and 30th of March: \n\nLAILEC Conference day on 29th of March\nUnique opportunity to join the 2 co-located events:\n\nEUH4D Data Forum on 30th of March in the morning\nSAS Project Event on 30th of March in the afternoon
